The Latest...(I'm trying!)

Last Saturday Ryann participated in a tennis quick start tournament. This type of tournament is specifically for kids who are just getting started playing tennis. She did a really great job!! She played 4 matches, two against girls who are on a tennis team, and have been more exposed to the game. She ended up winning one of the matches, beating the only boy she played! It was a long, HOT morning, but Ryann did a really great job despite the heat and how tired she was. (I’ll have the pictures up ASAP)

Sunday the kids were very excited to celebrate Father’s day w/ Adam! Before Adam woke up they were busy bees creating cards of all shapes and sizes, crowns – just about anything you can think of made of paper; they probably made it. Then they snuck all his gifts and cards in and let him open them in bed. We spent the day doing what Daddy wanted – it was a great day! (I totally dropped the ball and didn’t get ONE picture of Adam with the kids, OOPS!!)

This week we’re just doing our normal routine, with as much bike riding, swimming and playing as we can fit in! The kids are working on reading, and writing in their journals everyday as well as doing math worksheets. We are trying to keep them actively working on those school essentials, but making it as fun as we can. Aiden has completed 7 books and Ryann 2 so far! Adam and I extremely proud of the two of them! Not to mention the pride they feel themselves. I wish you could have heard Ryann when she completed her first book. She can not wait to tell her Mom! Once they reach a reading goal they get a reward, which has REALLY help to motivate Ryann. She has been a little reading machine since she met first goal! Aiden enjoys reading, but he seems to be more interested in math. He ask for more math worksheets almost every day.

Ryann is on another field trip today. She has really enjoyed getting to go so many places this summer w/ the day care.  We’ve had a few playdates with Aiden’s friends, and both kids have had fun doing that. It’s so fun to watch them interact with their little friends! It’s also been a HOOT to listen to Ryann talk about all her little girl friends….. girls are just too funny at this age. She hasn’t had any problems with the girls being catty, but BOY are they different from the boys. Boys have it so easy! The girls seem to think to be friends they have to play together all day everyday, and if you don’t then your friendship is over, (well, at least for a few minutes). Boys are so much more laid back! But regardless, Ryann has made several friends that she talks about daily, and looks forward to seeing everyday. It’s so nice to see her reaching out and really trying to make friends. She has always been so shy in that area, so it’s great to see this side of her growing!

Well, that’s it for us right now. We hope you’re having a wonderful summer!!
