Vacation Day 1!!

Wednesday we woke up bright and early got dressed, ate breakfast loaded the car and headed to the Parking Spot. We dropped off the car, loaded the bus, and off to the airport we went! At this point the kids were so excited they probably could have taken to flight on there own.
Since we booked our trip online we had to stop and get our boarding passes, check our bag and then head trough security.
The kids did awesome, and the staff was great with them. Because they were young enough we didn’t have to worry about removing their shoes. Luckily they didn’t have to go through the x-ray scan either. Just a quick walk through the medal detector for the kids and me and we were finished. Adam however must look a bit more suspicious. He did have to go through the x-ray scan, and then had to have his fingers swabbed. Luckily that didn’t take much time either, and we were on our merry way. We found our gate with no problems, but still having over an hour before it was time to board we walked around and looked at everything terminal D had to offer, including plane watching..

After a while we grabbed a snack, and in no time it was time to board!!!

The kids were so excited to fly!!!

The flight was just over 2 hours long. The kids did awesome, they looked out the windows some, but most of the time they watched a movie on Aiden’s Ipad, (tough life huh?). We arrived in Cancun right on time. It was nice to get off the plane, and stretch our legs. We got through customs and immigration in no time at all!

Then it was time to load the bus and head to the Riviera Maya, about an hour outside Cancun.

The drive felt like it took forever, we were so ready to hit the beach! Aiden took the chance to catch some Z’s.
When we arrived at our resort the kids could hardly believe it! It was HUGE, and absolutely stunning!!! The Barcelo is actually 5 resorts in one. We stayed at the Palace, which gave us access to all 5 resorts, while only people staying at the palace had access to it. So we really felt like royalty. While Adam started the check in process the staff served us drinks and snacks.

Then the kids and I snuck out to take a few pictures… We couldn’t help it, the view was amazing and we were so happy to finally be there!!!

(It's not acutally overcast like the picture suggest, my camera was fogging up)
After our quick check-in the bell hop led us to our room. I swear it probably took us 30 minutes to get to our room because we couldn’t stop “oohing and awing” over the beauty of the ocean, the resort, the pool… you get the point. We did finally make to our room, which just led to more oohs, and awes. Seriously, this was our view, (I had to take it in 3 pictures because I don’t have a panoramic camera).
(The "hut" looking thing in the middle of the pool is actually a huge swim up bar)
the bach/ocean are litterally,( well seperated by about a 5 foot wide sidewalk) just behind the line of palm trees behind the back side of the pool/bar
Our first order of business was lunch. The resort has 14 restaurants, so finding a place to eat was never an issue. We decided to on a buffet. Check out our new friend we spotted on our walk…
The food was amazing. But we were ready to hit the beach. We decided to start with a swim in the pool, but we would walk on the beach to the pool.

I don’t even know how many pools were at the resort, but we stuck to the one HUGE pool just outside of our room. Even the pools were beautiful! This pool also backed up to one of the kids’ water parks. So Ryann and Aiden had a blast swimming, and playing. While Adam and I enjoyed relaxing on the in-pool lounge chairs, and hanging out in the hammocks, and we all loved the swim up bar!

For the entire trip we just let our tummy’s tell us when it was time to eat, and our bodies dictate bed time. So after a few hours in the pool we headed to the room to change into dry clothes for dinner. Again we chose to do a buffet. Adam and I felt like doing the buffets most of the trip kept things from feeling to scheduled, because you didn’t need reservations, and there wasn’t dress code like there was with the 5 star restaurants…. Plus the buffets changed constantly…. There were 4 buffet restaurants that we ate at…. Each one had a buffet set up for breakfast, a different one for snack, yet another one for lunch, a new snack buffet and then another for dinner… and these were no small buffets. I don’t know how the staff did it all, but all the food was amazing!!! After dinner we walked around and looked at the shops at the palace, then back to the room for showers, and bed.
I don’t think any of us had any problems falling fast asleep. Wednesday was a long but exciting day!!

Okay, so that's over 40 pictures and we've only covered day one.... and remember a lot of the pictures that I took from this day got lost....... I hope you enjoyed reading about our 1st day, I know how boring other people's vacation pictures can be - so I hope we didn't bore you too much!
